Morning Moments

FRIENDS
[Prov27:9] Oil and incense bring joy to the heart, and the sweetness of a friend is better than self-counsel.

My life has been enriched with many special and precious friends, but there are a few I rarely ever see that when I do see them, it is like going back it time to another sweet spot.

Personally, I think of friends on four levels: 1) casual acquaintances, 2) group contacts, 3) relationships that transcend time and space. The first group may be today’s neighborhood. I may know their names, speak to them, chat with them, but that’s it. The second becomes a little more personal but is usually still a little more surface, such as clubs, workplace, church, etc. The third are people that are very close and have been at one time or are presently a vital part of my life. I may not see them often, may not talk to them often, but they are there for the long haul. We may not see each other for years, but when we do it is like Christmas.

There is however one final and very small group whose very presence is like getting a massage. It is so soothing to be with them. The scent of their pure and holy spirit is so uplifting, the words that flows may be few or many but they are like ointment to my soul. There is no pretense, no put on, no make believe, no guarded words, no walking on egg shells, because you are perfectly at ease and peace together.

My wife and I had such a friend visit us this week that we pastured thirty years ago, and it was just that way. Now a widow she has a ministry to women all over the country and it was like going back in time to spend time together again. And in these final words today I just want to say – Janet and I love you Millie and we miss you Frank. FRIENDS IN TIME BUT FAMILY THOUGHOUT ETERNITY!

BLESSINGS!
