Morning Moments

Titus 2:14 (KJV)
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Christians are the peculiar people of God. We use the word sometimes when we speak of something odd or strange. But that is not its use here. The word is translated from a Greek word which is made up of two words, one which means “around, “as a circle, and the other which means “to be. “ It can be charted by a dot within a circle. This will help us to understand the meaning of the combined word. As the circle is around the dot, so God is around each one of His saints. The circle monopolizes the dot, has the dot all to itself. So God has His own all to Himself. They are His own private unique possession. He has reserved them for Himself. (Wuest's Word Studies)

You have heard the expression "a round peg in a square pole", that is precisely what we Christians are in this world. It is not our home; we are only passing through. We are strangers and sojourners here. Our citizenship is in Heaven from which we look for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ to receive us unto Himself and take us where we belong.

While we are here, however, we must recognize that the world loves its own and we are not of this world. Our world is one of darkness and we are the children of light, so we are to walk in the light as He is in the light, for God is LIGHT and in Him there is no darkness whatsoever. Men (unregenerate people) love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil, but he who loves the light comes to the light that his deeds may be made manifest of what sort they are.

We cannot "love the world" and "love the Lord" at the same time, for the all that is in the world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are not of the Father, but are of the world which passes away with its cravings, but he who does the will of God abides forever.

The farther we travel in light, the more we realize just how dark the world really is. SIN is selfishness. It is a transgression of the law of God. It is unrighteousness, and all unrighteousness is sin. Jesus came into this world to SAVE from SIN. God condemned sin, but loves the sinner and wants him/her to be saved. I find it a bit strange that today many who attend church regularly and who profess to be Christians, love what God says He hates and has condemned.

Maybe it is time to do what we are encouraged in Scripture to do: "Make your calling and election sure." We must examine ourselves and be sure we are "in the faith". If we love what God hates, there is definitely a problem.

BLESSINGS!
