Morning Moments

Malachi 2:9-11

Resisting God

Malachi chapter one tells us that God's people are to Represent Him as a kingdom of believer priests. We are to stand "in Christ's stead" proclaiming to this world ""be ye reconciled to God." Although we stray, we are admonished to return.

9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.

There is a problem. God's people who are to Represent Him are Resisting Him in our text and resistance always brings Retribution. In chapter two the very people He chose to represent Him are resisting Him, and that retribution begins with the priests and continues with the people.

10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

In the 55 verses of this book, God speaks in 47 of them, but in this verse the prophet speaks and points out the problem to the people who are violating the laws of the God who are confused and breaking covenant with God and one another.

11 Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

One clear disregard for the faith is marrying the faithless. God says, "Be ye separate." "If any marry, let him marry in the Lord." "What fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness?" The lost are chosen over the saved and it is disregard for God Himself who established this mysterious relationship of husband and wife.

How up to date is this book! It addresses a major problem of today's world. It is high time for us to repent and believe God for a miracle in our marriages.

BLESSINGS!
