Morning Moments

This week I would like to considering the subject of Resisting God from Malachi chapter two.

2:12 "The Lord will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, an have him that offereth an offering unto the Lord of hosts."

To understand the Lord's complaint against His people, we must read the previous verses. There we find sins of priests and sins of brother against brother. In chapter one, God begins by reminding the people of His great love for them, but their response is "In what ways have you love us?" Can't you imagine doing everything you can for someone just because you love them, and having them return with "In what ways have you loved me." Givers give and takers take but rarely recognize how they have been grace by givers. It is almost like saying, "Well, what have you done for me lately".

Consider that the Renunciation is Deplorable.

2:13 "Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou has dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant."

The broken marriages have led to much hurt and agony of soul. The renounced wives have broken the heart of God. We are in such a time as this, when children of single parents fill our land. The results of which are divesting our society.

We stand before a minister, priest, or rabbi, and promise to love and cherish, be faithful unto death, in good times and bad, glad times and sad, and then we discover we are "incompatible". We find that the more we know the other person, the less we want to be with them. "Surely I made a mistake," is the response of far too many who do not have an "arranged" marriage as happens in other parts of the world.

We refuse to be responsible for the choices we make and have little regard for this covenant relationship of matrimony. It is time to rethink the whole matter and get back to the original design of God for one man and one woman for life, in a marital relationship that is pure and pious.

We have so scared our consciences by pre-marital sex in a lust filled world that the sub-conscious guilt hardens our heart to the truth of commitment. May God help us to repents of this cavalier attitude about immorality and infidelity, and repent, change.

We can find many excuses for being unfaithful to a marriage partner, but none are excusable with God who said, "Be sure your sins WILL find you out." READ Malachi and understand how His people resist and rob Him.

BLESSINGS!
