Morning Moments

HIDE YOURSELF

1 Kings 17:2 And the word of the LORD came to him: 3 “Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 4 You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” 5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD. He went and lived by the brook Cherith that is east of the Jordan. 6 And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. 7 And after a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

The demands of ministry are great and sometimes the man of God doesn't know when and where to draw the line. We are givers who, if not very careful, give out and the danger of giving out is that it can lead to giving up. So to simplify the matter, we must give in - to God's wisdom and leadership and give up the demands for some rest and relaxation.

Too much rest and relaxation (golf, fishing, whatever) can be just as dangerous, so if we let God call the shots, we learn when to stay and when to go, when to be seen and when to be secluded, and this was Elijah's time to be secluded. So, God said, "GO HIDE". The man or woman of God MUST learn this lesson well.

God's time and place for solitude is paradise! Just think of a babbling brook, being served by ravens, no phone calls, no newspapers, no TV, no company other than God and the music of the birds. Remember, Elijah was a man just like us, so you and I can learn an important lesson here.

Learn from and lean on God for everything and be HIS guest for a time much better than a cruise. Our God "will supply all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." It may be time for you to HIDE YOURSELF.

BLESSINGS
