Morning Moments

THE FINISHING

Col. 1:12
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Concluding Paul's 218 word prayer is for the Colossian Christians who had apparently failed, as many of us do, to understand that the Christian life does not end with the new birth. Paul ask the Galatians: Galatians 3:3
Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

For far too many years, we have made the new birth the most important part of the Christian life. We rarely get past assurance, but in this letter to the Colossians, the apostle states very clearly that he TRAVAILED for Christ to be formed in them.

The preceding devotionals have demonstrated clearly the process of growth and maturity which the life DEMANDS. So now we come to The Finishing of this marvelous edifice.

It is the Lord, Himself who has made us fit, or has qualified us as believers to share in the inheritance with all the saints by delivering us from the realm of darkness and placing us in the Kingdom of Light of His dear Son.

Jesus has promised us who believe a mansion over there in the New Jerusalem, but we who belong to Him have promised Him a Heart House over here. We agreed in our initial commitment to Him that we would allow this house of flesh to become His temple, so we must let Him build what He has bought. Remember, He is the CARPENTER.

BLESSINGS!
