Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us Na son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
The Bearer of Burden
Did you ever hear anyone say, "I feel the weight of the world is on my shoulders?" One might think that of a President, a King, or an Emperor. But for this to be said of an innocent baby - WOW!
I have never wanted to know my future. I love life just the way it comes, one day at a time, but this child, this son, would actually hold the burdens of the world on His shoulder and that was settled from eternity past, so He always knew! He didn't rush it, he didn't resist it, and he didn't ruin it. He accepted it!
You and I may sometimes feel great burdens on our shoulders. We may have our own and/or those of others we love, but none of us knows the weight of the world. He never allows it to depress Him, discourage Him, distract Him, detour Him, disrupt Him, nor defeat Him. He's got it all together - NOW and ETERNALLY.
Of course this text refers to the Millennium to come, but if we understand the Scripture and the position of Jesus now as mediator and advocate, then we know that we can CAST all our care (burdens) upon Him for He cares for us.
BLESSINGS!
