Morning Moments

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

A Son Is Given - Why was it so important that the Messiah be a boy? Israel had great women in leadership throughout her history, so what could the Messiah not be a woman? Is God a respecter of sex? These may sound like silly questions but for many of today's women it is a problem. But it is no problem at all when we understand that the fall of the human race came as a result of a man's choice, not a woman's. He had to be THE LAST ADAM, not the last Eve. It is IN Adam that all die, not in Eve.

I sat with a young woman recently who said, "I love the Lord, but I do not understand the sexist teaching in the Bible." Believe me when I tell you that it is no surprise to God that these issues arise. That is why the study of culture and custom and so important. We live in days where "rights" are a sore we continue to pick so that it never heals. I wonderful when we are going to focus on responsibility.

God held Adam responsible because he was the "head" of the human race, so the nature of Adam was passed to us all since we all have biological fathers. Remember that Eve was deceived. It is not to say that we are not responsible for the consequence of our own deception, but the man, Adam, knowing clearly what God had said, deliberately disobeyed - he was not deceived.

Joseph could not have been the biological father of Jesus because Jesus would then have had a fallen nature. So, to redeem fallen humanity (both male and female) God impregnated a virgin miraculously, so that He might GIVE us HIS SON.

What a gift! What a God! What marvelous Grace! Let's give God the Glory!

BLESSINGS!
