Morning Moments

Luke 2:8-10 (KJV)
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

The Goodness of God “glad tidings”
The earth is yet far from peaceful, but the angelic host knew that peace could and would come only through God’s Son…That’s good news!

"...good tidings of great joy..."

The Shepherds were Watching -

The angel said to those who say Jesus ascend after the resurrection, "Why stand ye here gazing..." We are to be about our Father's business, not standing around waiting for some sign from God. Believe me, when God wants to appear, he doesn't appear to the lazy or the slothful. These shepherds were doing their duty when the angel came. It should certainly be the same with us. He knows where you live, where you work, and where you go, so He has no problem reaching you when He wants to get your attention.

The Shepherds were Worried -

The appearance of the angel of God brought kings to their knees trembling. Who can stand in the presence of God? Moses removed his shoes realizing it was holy ground. The wonderful thing about worship, whether by shepherds or magi or us, is that it is such an awesome experience. I'm not referring to the good feeling we get singing praise songs in Church. I am talking about a personal awareness of the presence and power of God when you are doing your duty. It may be in the calm of the night, the cool of the day, or the chaos of a traffic jam. God has a word for us of glad tidings today if we will listen and if we do, we will find great joy.

The Shepherds were Witnesses -

Some have seen angels without, but far greater is the witness of the Holy Spirit within. That is the key! It is HE who calms our fears, convicts our souls, and comforts our spirits. He may speak through another human. He may speak through the Scripture. He may speak to you in many ways, at different times, for various reasons, BUT be sure; if you are His it will be good tiding of great joy.

Today may be a good day to keep a listening ear for Him to speak to you.

BLESSINGS!
