The Gift of God “delivered”
For at least 4000 years the host of heaven and the holy of earth had waited and watched for this moment…the fullness of time, when God would step from the portals of glory to this planet of grief, in the person of His only begotten Son…the Gift of Life.
God does not merely offer eternal life - HE IS ETERNAL LIFE. That is why John said, "He who HAS the Son HAS life and he who has NOT the Son has NOT life. Again the gift of life is in the SON.
We are in the midst of the Christmas Season when people usually have a gift list. I realize that there are cases in which folks give to get, but a gift is something underserved. It is an expression of love and appreciation, not payment for something someone has done or that one hopes the person will do.
God has no given the gift of life through Jesus Christ for something in return. It is by grace through faith and THAT is not of yourselves. The gift of God is just that, a gift to be received with gratitude. It is HIS life IN us. God so loved that He GAVE!
What we celebrate at Christmas in the coming of God in the flesh, THE GIFT OF GOD simply because He loves us. To receive the GIFT is to receive the LIFE. The only life that is filled with purpose and pardon.
