Morning Moments

Luke 1:27-33 (KJV)
27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

The Message “a son”
Again, the fulfillment of Scripture: Isa 9:6 and 7:14

As we follow the text above regarding the message consider the following:

The Favor - "...blessed art thou among women."
God was about to do something that had never been done before, so He chose a woman to favor. He would somehow implant within her His seed combined with her egg without intercourse. It has never been done since, and shall never be repeated. The mystery of the Incarnation is the mystery of mysteries, that God and man would become human. The last Adam, the second man; a man the way God intended a man to be, and He would be fully man and fully God, for in HIM all the fullness of the Godhead dwelt bodily. This young innocent, pure, and willing vessel of a woman was to have God in her as no other human would ever have - THAT is favor.

The Fear - "...she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be."
Fear? You better believe it! How could she not be troubled? God is doing something in her that is unheard of. Her imagination was running wild. What is the meaning of this message? Does she comprehend the incomprehensible? Can she fathom the unfathomable? What about her parents? What about her fiancé? What about society? This is too much for the human mind! So the angel has to say, "Don't be afraid."

The Fame - ...JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest:

Would he be great like Abraham, The father of the faith? Would he be a leader such a Moses? What about David, Solomon, the prophets? None of them were ever referred to as The Son of God! You might think that this honor would swell her with pride, but it had a completely different effect, for it humbled her above all. Here was a woman, considered by her society as a possession of man, becoming the mother of the Messiah. Of course it had been prophesied, but who understood that it would happen this way?

The Future - and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

The Heir to the throne, but with a scepter of righteousness. "Of His kingdom there shall be NO end". He is Israel's Messiah, but He will be the Savior of the world. He will right all the wrongs. He will be the Prince of Peace. He will rule heaven and earth and all the creation of God. For a moment there will be rebellion and resistance; defiance and disobedience; but only in this moment called time. His rule shall be eternal! Hallelujah!

BLESSINGS!
