If there is anything we do not have to worry about it is God getting His word to His people and that He promises to continue to the end that which He begins.
The writer of Hebrews says, Hebrews 1:1-2 (HCSB)
1 Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways.
2 In these last days, He has spoken to us by ⌊His⌋ Son. God has appointed Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him.
Gabriel’s Announcement to Mary Lk 1:26-38
The Messenger “Gabriel”
This was a fulfillment of the double reference verses by God to David in 2 Sam 7:12-13.
The Old Testament was complete and the New Testament or Covenant was to be initiated. The first came by law, but the second would come by blood, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son.
God has previously spoken through dreams and visions, angels and prophets, but NOW He would speak through His Son. Only a few saw the visions, had the dreams, heard the prophets, saw the angels, but NOW everyone could know His Son, who being lifted up would draw all men unto Himself.
From Persian astronomers to shepherds in the field God would live among us and speak to us, and live in us who receive Him.
It's strange to me that a faithless generation would still look for God to speak the way He had previously done, through dreams, visions, angels, and prophets, but now the Son was to come and complete the revelation of God to man. For thirty three years He lived as a man fully dependent upon God, so that we might more clearly understand that God wants to now express His life through us.
The message of the Good News requires a messenger and this time it would be God Incarnate: "Jesus of Nazareth, a MAN approved of God..."
The question for us is: are we listening to the Messenger? Do we know and hear His voice as He enlightens us through the Word. Stop looking for signs and spirits and start looking to JESUS, the author and finisher of our faith.
BLESSINGS!
