Gabriel adds this: “Your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son.”
But wait just a minute! Am I to believe that this old man and his wife, at their age and stage are praying for a child? NO! They prayed that a long time ago.
God doesn't forget our prayers, or our tears. Sometimes what we ask for in our youth can only become real when it is humanly impossible for it to be so. That is a hard lesson for us to learn.
With God, all things are present because He does not have a watch. He doesn't need one! God sees everything as if it were now. It is an attribute of His Deity. Time is for us, but one day time shall be no more. We shall all live in the eternal now.
When you prayer of faith is not answered when you think it should be, don't worry, God has not forgotten it - even though you may have counted it one of those "unanswered" prayers. This is what we so often miss and why we sometimes put ourselves of a guilt trip by thinking our prayer was unanswered.
God always answers the prayer of faith by either, "yes", "no" or "later". So believe and continue to pray in faith and learn to wait, for what you pray in your youth may not be realized until you are old.
Besides, we know not how to pray as we ought, but the Holy Spirit unscrambles those prayers with groanings (ours) which CANNOT be uttered (which has NOTHING to do with speaking in tongues).
BLESSINGS!
