When men and women function according to God's original design, family values remain intact and children remain secure. We MUST realize that today's society has rebelled against those values and is thus suffering greatly.
It is for sure from Proverbs 31 that a virtuous woman who is praiseworthy in any generation can be industrious, entrepreneurial, and agressive, but her PRIMARY function is that of producing and protecting as a wife and mother.
Her role in public worship is no different, she may lead, but under a leader. She may teach, but under authority. She may serve in many ways in the local assembly, but is never to usurp authority as Lucifer sought to do with God.
She is designed with certain benefits a man doesn't possess. She has the God given ability to do for a man what no other man can do - complete him, fulfill him, and be his counterpart. THAT is an awesome responsibility.
2:14 - And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
In the Genesis record of the fall in chapter 3, we find the tranference of blame with Adam and Eve. Adam blamed her and she blamed the serpent. But God always places the blame where it belongs. That is what the above verse is doing.
Our text reveals two important truths for us. The first is that the woman (Eve) was deceived. And the second that she was in transgression.
She learned after her transgression what she did not know before the transgression - that she had been deceived. Men tend to be much more skeptical than women. Women are more accepting, and as a result are more vulnerable in certain areas. It is the nature of a woman - the maternal instinct if you will. It is why it is easier for a man to "kick" a kid out for bad behavior that it is for a woman.
I find it interesting that Eve did not blame Adam. She did not say, "If you had taken better care of me this would not have happened." She did not say, "If you had warned me about the serpent, I would have listened." In fact, she did not say "if you" anything. She admitted to being deceived once she saw she had been deceived. It says something for a woman's honesty, but it brings up the next point.
She was in the transgression. In other words, being deceived did not keep her from being "in the transgression". She could not say, "I didn't know better." That is an important point which is so relevant.
Recently, a bright young medical student was indicted for murder. This guy had everything going for him. When arrested, his fiance staunchly defended him and declared that he could NOT have done such a thing. But the evidence told a different story. How could she have known him so well and not suspected something? It is simple. It is a woman's nature. It is foolish to say, "She was just stupid", or "she should have seen the signs," or anything else like that. Just as men as vulnerable in certain areas, women are vulnerable in this area.
MAYBE this will help us help each other if we will drop our pride and admit certain vulnerabilities. We are in a mess, even in the church, because we will not accept these truths.
BLESSINGS!
