Morning Moments

In Habakkuk 3 we find the prophet of God in prayer. He is trembling while praising and praying. His has received the revelation of judgment and cries out for mercy.

2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

We have seen his Respect for the Word of God - "thy speech".
We have seen his Response to the Wrather of God - "was afraid"
Consider now -

The Reality of the Work of God - "thy work" - "Except the Lord build the house, they do labor in vain that build it." Please don't misunderstand this, but the whole issue of serving the Lord is that it is His work, not ours.

I remember years ago being invited to a church to sing. The pastor said, "Welcome to my church." You may think this is a picky thing, but far too many of us possess our position rather than understanding that we are mere servants who possess nothing. I have seen so many folks leave a church because a nominating committee replaced them as a teacher or whatever.

NOW HEAR THIS - It is not YOUR ministry, but the ministry of the Holy Spirit through you. Jesus said, I can of mine own self do NOTHING! That is precisely what we can do without Him. Praise the Lord He uses our hands, and head, and HEART, but it is HIS, because we are HIS.

When it is my work, it gets dreary and leads to burn out, but when it is HIS work, it is delightful and leads to build up (edifying). It is so easy to play a numbers game with God in order to impress people. I have attended so many "preacher meetings" while all you hear is how many people they baptized. Some of them have been baptized the second and third time...but the important thing is to report the number for the sake of OUR MINISTRY. It's no wonder they come in the front door and out the back.

REMEMBER - It is HIS WORK - just get out of the way and let Him do it - THROUGH you.

BLESSINGS!
