(continued)
Habakkuk 3:2 – O Lord, I have heard thy speech and was afraid: O Lord, revive they work…remember mercy.”
Respect for the Word of God – “Thy speech”
Response to the Wrath of God – “was afraid”
On Tuesday, September 11, 2001 America felt fear for the first time in many a day, but it wasn’t the “fear of the Lord” but the fear of man which brings a snare. God said through the prophet Hosea, “There is no fear of God in the land.” It is the fear of the Lord that is the beginning of wisdom. How foolish we have become.
I remember when atheist, Bob Ingersoll, shook his fist in the air and exclaimed, “God, if you exist, strike me dead right now.” Nothing happened. You see, God does things on His terms, not on ours. He has appointed a day of judgment and only He knows just when that is. When that tribulation judgment comes man will learn to fear the God he now denies, but it will be too late. God will give them strong delusion that they might believe THE LIE; that they all might be damned for not receiving the knowledge of the Truth.
God wants “fear” (reverential trust), but we want fun.
God wants agony (travail of the soul), but we give apathy.
God wants the trembling of the soul, but we want the tickling of the ear.
We have been warned. Next we will watch and witness the strong arm of the Lord.
The time is coming that man will cry out for the rocks to fall upon him. He will want to die but cannot. At first, God will remove the present restraining force of the Church – the light and the salt of this world. They He will leave man to himself. Next He will loose the tormentors of hell upon men. And finally He will pour the bowls of His wrath upon humanity. We had better learn the fear of the Lord.
