Morning Moments

Well, this is my third blog today, but the first two you don't get to see. Maybe later.

For now, let's look at Paul's prayer in Ephesians 1:17-23.

Paul indicates is verse 15 that faith in Jesus and love for saints go together. That is a given if indeed the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Rom 5). No love, no faith! In verse 16, he says he prays for them unceasingly.

Then in the following verse he tells them for what he prays:

1. That Father would give wisdom and revelation about Jesus to them.
2. That they might understand and enlightened regarding the HOPE of His calling.

THEN Paul prays an interesting thing about "the riches of the glory of HIS inheritance IN the saints...." This is what I wish to focus on this morning: HIS INHERITANCE IN THE SAINTS. The rest we shall consider later.

Remember it does not speak of OUR inheritance in Him, but His inheritance IN us.

Now we all know what an inheritance is and that it is only received by DEATH. We have an inheritance "reserved in heaven" for us as Peter said, "who are kept by the power of God through faith ready to be revealed in the last time."

But Paul says He has an inheritance IN us. So if an inheritance is that which is received upon one's death, who is dead here? I am! That is why I am no longer mine. God arranged that I would die IN Christ that He would then inherit by body and live the Christian life THOUGH me. According to Paul, THIS releases the greatness of His power according to HIS mighty power. In other words, the way for His power to be released is for my power to be relinquished through death. WOW! The next verse says that God did this when He raised Christ from the dead, placed Him at His throne, and given Him -

1. Permission, authority, right, liberty, power to do something.
2. Manifested power, dominion.
3. Power to do something (Act_26:12)...denies the presence of a hindrance.

Get the picture? We are not our own, we belong to Father and He has given Jesus the authority, dominion, and power to do something without hindrance IN US! Now that is Biblical Christianity, not this superficial, carnal, worldly stuff we see so much of today.

Furthermore, this would be a good prayer for us to pray for each other.

PRAYER: Father, teach us that as true believers, we do not belong us ourselves, but to You, so that you through Christ, by the Holy Spirit, possess us with the right, the rule, and the reign over us.
