Morning Moments

Today: The Day After.
Okay, but it is the day after what? Who cares! For some it may be the day after the loss of a loved one. For others it may be the day after receiving news of a significant inheritance. Still others may see it as the day after January 1st. You see in some parts of the world it is still the 1st. In other parts it will be the 3rd. It is all relative.
The point is that whatever day yesterday was, today is a new day with the whatever of yesterday past. That is how we must live our lives. Whether or not you are a resolution maker/breaker does not really matter in the whole scheme of things. What does matter is your “follow through.” If this is just another day, “follow through” with it and do all you can to make it a good day – regardless.
Several years ago, I had as an employee a man who never spoke to anyone when he came to work. One day I suggested that He spend some time with God before coming to work. His reply was, “I’m just not a morning person.” To which I replied, “Then get a night job.”
There is an interesting verse in the Bible that says, “WHATEVER you do, do it HEARTILY, as unto the Lord.” Another says, “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks unto God the Father by Him.” Boy, those verses should be written on the ceiling above every one of our beds.
By the way, I purposefully don’t give chapter and verse so that YOU will do diligence and look it up yourself.
Here is the point: As believers, we need to stop making excuses for our poor attitudes and failure to experience and express the JOY OF THE LORD. Joy is not consistent with grumpiness, grumbling, gripping, or glorying in one’s self. It is the JOY OF THE LORD and unless we are in fellowship with Him, there is no joy (which is not to be confused with happiness).
So, as we get off the bed let’s get on our knees and ask the Father to fill us with the JOY OF THE LORD. After all, the Scripture says, “The joy of the Lord IS my strength.” Make a positive difference in someone’s life today because this is their “Day After” too.
PRAYER: Thank you Father that we can “put off the old man with his deeds and put on the new man….” Just as we put on our clothes, because Jesus lives in us who are true believers we can put on the garments of gladness and goodness. We are your workmanship “created in Christ Jesus” unto GOOD works, so that others may see and be glad.

Happy New Year - Happy New Day!
