Sound relationships are built on trust. When someone confides in you, they trust you to keep it to yourself. When you are given responsibility to get a job done, the one who gave you the job trusts you to get it done. When we send representatives to Washington, we trust them to represent us. When we have children, we are trusted by society, as well as God to care for them. When we make a commitment of any kind, we are trusted to live up to that commitment.
Trust itself is a treasure to be highly valued. BUT, if we live long we discover that trust is all to often broken. It is why we are in a financial disaster in our country today. It is why we are in a social downward spiral. Spouses can no longer trust spouses to be faithful in far too many cases. Children cannot trust parents to protect and provide for them in far too many situations. Employers are stealing from employees and vice versa because they cannot trust one another. We cannot trust those we elect with the responsibility of proper management. In many cases pastors cannot trust church members to care for them and their families, but members sometimes cannot trust their pastors to be their when they need them.
Oh my, how depressing all this seems! BUT WAIT! There is One we can trust completely if we will trust Him completely. I have served Him for almost 45 years and I have NEVER found Him untrustworthy. Our Lord Jesus is COMPLETELY TRUSTWORTHY! I can trust Him with my spouse, my children, my job, my ministry, my money, my name, my EVERYTHING. Hallelujah! Did you get that? With EVERYTHING! Jesus NEVER fails, so don't distrust nor mistrust HIM. Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart.
PRAYER: Father, I trust you completely today and everyday with everything I have and everything I am. If I need breaking, break me. If I need making, make me. I know so little but I trust you to teach me and take care of me, and reproduce in me the trustworthiness that is in YOU.
