Morning Moments

Highways and Parkways...
When I was a boy, we lived in Bainbridge, Georgia and my maternal grandmother lived in Meridian Mississippi.  Once or twice a year, we would load up the car and head for Mama Lide's house.  It was something I always enjoyed, but it seemed so far.  There were no interstates, no divided highways and few very places to stop in between.  The journey was difficult for a little boy who was probably hyper active (to say the least).  I would ask a thousand times, "Are we there yet?"

It is often that way in our Journey for Jesus.  Those of us who really love and long to be with Him are much happier about arriving at our final destination than we are the trip there.  Sometimes on our journey, we can stop along the way at a place of rest and refreshment, but sometimes it seems as though we will never get there.  The curves, rough road, scenery we have seen before and just the travel itself seems so very taxing.  There is an occasional flat tire, an overheated radiator, and many other potential obstacles to cope with, but one thing we know for sure; we will get there!  We know that because "daddy" said so, and because "he" is in charge.  Sometimes he says, "take a nap, son, and when you wake, we will be there."

I have made that trip many times since those days, and find it now to be easier because of expressways and four lane highways.  There are places to stop and eat everywhere now and I even enjoy the view:)

Here is the point:  The process of journeying is sometimes difficult, but the pleasure of arrival is always delightful.  We are on a journey home.  The travel time may seem wearisome for some of us, but WE WILL ARRIVE soon, safe and sound and SANE:)  Thanks for listening:)

PRAYER:  Father, above all else help us to be real!  Help us to understand that Jesus ENDURED for the JOY set before Him.  Thank you that we are called upon to do the same.
