Morning Moments

I love the Christmas story for so many reasons.  Of course, the most important to me is the reality of the Incarnation.  But each year I ask the Father to show me a little something new that I had not quite noticed before that will help me keep the story fresh and applicable to those to whom I minister as well as to my own heart.

This year my thought began with IT ALL BEGAN WITH A BABY!  As I reflected upon this recurring thought, I was reminded THAT is the singular reason for Christmas.  Let me explain.  Whether one is a Christian or not, everyone should understand that Christmas, by its very name is not about a holiday, a tree, Santa Claus, shopping, or anything else but the recognition of and celebration of a BIRTHDAY.  THAT'S IT!  It is a BIRTHDAY PARTY in celebration of the BIRTH of a BABY!

NOW, we who are Christians UNDERSTAND the uniqueness and significance of THIS birth above ALL others because it was the birth of our LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST.  But wait a minute!  Just because you are not a member of the family doesn't mean you are not invited to the party.  GET IT?  We who are believers understand that this celebration is not a out US, because it is not our BIRTHDAY, IT IS HIS!  So in our approach to Christmas this year, it might be good foe us to remember ourselves and remind our unbelieving friends that the celebration ALL BEGAN WITH THE BIRTH OF A BABY and we are celebrating HIS birth, so if you wish to join us, fine, but if you don't, that's fine too.  Just don't spoil our celebration because you don't like the baby whose birth we are celebrating.
