Today it is 2:12 AM and I am in Cumming, Georgia USA with two of our precious grandsons who will, as many across the world wake on this day that is called Christmas, to gifts and goodies, expressions of love and appreciation for them, just as gift were given to the child, Jesus, by the Magi.
I know the story is all wrong, and that the Magi didn't go to the manger. I know that we don't know what day Christ was born, and that it is certainly doubtful it was December 25th. I know that we do to this day what has been done to everything sacred in the Holy Land - we have commercialized it all. I know all that! BUT today, let's get past it all for a moment - for a day perhaps. Let's just put all the negatives aside long enough to think about a little boy.
The little boy is not a Bible character, but he has a Bible name. His name is Jacob, and he lives right here where I am today, in Georgia, in the same neighborhood as my 3 and 5 year old grandsons. Jacob is also 3 years old and he too would have awakened to gifts this Christmas morning, but instead he is in an induced comma because he fell into the elevator shaft at his home a few house down the street. He needs a CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!
I am asking God for that Christmas miracle for Jacob and I ask you to join me. Jacob is an only child, and so you can imagine what his parents must be going through in these agonizing hours. So, whatever your thoughts about Christmas Day, whatever your feelings about gifts and goodies, whatever your thoughts about how millions of children will see this day, just remember that we know one child, Jacob, who doesn't need gifts and goodies, but a real live miracle from God today. Will you pray with me for that Christmas Miracle for Jacob?
BLESSINGS!
