Morning Moments

Acts 7:22 (KJV)
22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

Tradition has it that Moses went to school at the Temple of the Sun in Heliopolis. It was here then that he no doubt learned how to read and write. There is every indication that he had lessons in arithmetic, using duodecimal and decimal scales of notation. He must have studied geometry enough to make him familiar with the art of land-measuring. And his knowledge of mathematics would take in trigonometry. Astronomy was also studied by the Egyptians, as was architecture. The Egyptians had some proficiency in medical science and dentistry, and were acquainted with anatomy, chemistry, and had a knowledge of metals, for they had gold mines, and copper mines, and were familiar with the use of iron and the manufacture of bronze. Music was also an important subject in Egyptian schools. Moses must have been well educated according to the standards of ancient Egypt, which were of a high caliber.Manners and Customs of Bible Lands.

I have always found it a bit humorous that the great man Moses had such knowledge and understanding and was mighty in words and deeds, yet when it came to God, he was speechless. I think there is an important lesson to be found under the surface here.

You may be absolutely brilliant and even have good Bible knowledge, but it does not mean that you have the anointing of God to preach the Word. Paul was a well educated man who learned at the feet of Gamliel, but it took GOD to make Him a preacher. Today it seems that there are many mama called, profession seeking men who are pastors, but if GOD did not GIFT (Eph 4:11) you, stay out of the Pastorate. If He gifted you as an EVANGELIST, don't pastor. Go Evangelize in the power of the Spirit. The ministry is not about supporting your family, having a nice home, fine cars, money in the bank...it is only about pleasing God and functioning under the unction.

The Church does not need a gifted administrator unless it is a big business. What the Church of Jesus Christ needs most is men of God, filled with God, preaching and teaching the Word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit of God. God nowhere in the Bible has the gift of CEO or MOM or MOE or MOY. Anyone can assist the pastor whether deacon or not, regardless of sex, race, ability and knowledge, but are only 4gifts of Church Leadership - Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, and Pastor/teacher and if a man can't teach he is disqualified as a pastor. All help in ministry is desired and needed, but "make your calling and election sure" and serve in the capacity God gifts you, regardless of how "unable" you think you are God will supply the tools for the excercise of His gifts.

BLESSINGS!
