Morning Moments

1 Peter 1:1-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Begotten
Inheritance
Kept
Salvation

These four words of our text speak of birth, death, power and promise.

In the first place there is no "salvation" or "deliverance" or "making whole" of anyone, anywhere, anytime who has not become a child of God through personal faith in or abandoment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. That does happen by the will of man, the work of man, the way of man, or the want of man. It happens by the will and work and way and word of GOD! You can't save yourself, nor can anyone else deliver you from eternal damnation. Only God can do it! AND it can only be done through Jesus Christ.

If man cannot save himself from eternal destruction, neither can he keep himself from it. This is confusing to many because far too many "Christians" seem to have the idea that God gets us started but then we are on our own. That is rubbish!!!!!
He who began the work, continues the work until it is finished! God never starts something He can't finish. If keeping myself saved is up to me, I'm a gonner for sure and so are you.

That brings us to the next thought. The text says there is an inheritance reserved in heaven for me. IT IS FOR ME! IT IS RESERVED! IT IS IN HEAVEN! Get the picture? Who in heaven can unreserve that which is for me since I am dead (in Christ) and my life is hid with Christ in God? HID!!!! Copy that Houston? If God has hidden my sin behind His back and remembers them no more, surely he would have to take my life out of it's hiding place to hold those sins against me. IMPOSSIBLE! I do have an inheritance in Him and He does have an inheritance in me. My inheritance in Him is based my identity with Christ in His death, and His inheritance in me is based upon Christ's resurrected life in me. It is a done deal!!!

Finally, I have been begotten, born into this new life. I can no longer be unborn spiritually than I can be unborn physically. It is impossible. I now have my life, my movement, by being IN Him. He is my life! This life in me is the life of God. It is deity dwelling in humanity than my humanity might vindicate His deity. It is not based upon feeling but fact; not dependent upon me but HIM, because just as seed of my daddy produced physical life in me and that cannot change, so the Holy Spirit has produced spiritual life in me because I am now born from above.

BELIEVE IT! BEHAVE IT! HE HAS BESTOWED IT!
