[Mk 16:1] And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
[2] And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. [3] And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? [4] And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. [5] And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. [6] And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
What a week it was! The betrayal, the rebuttals, the rejection, the persecution, the trumped up charges, the abuse, the unbelievable pain and agony and ultimate death of THIS faultless and flawless Man approved of God by signs and wonders and diverse miracles is beyond human understanding.
He could have spoken the word and legions of angels would have come to His aid, but He uttered not a word of self defense. How could things have gotten so out of hand so fast? How could anyone who had been with Him betray Him? How could anyone who had followed Him deny Him as one of His closest followers did? It is enough to make one's head spin.
It's over now! His body was so bloody He could not be recognized, but it was taken by some of the men and laid in Joseph's tomb. It is such a mystery why anyone so loving and compassionate toward others; anyone who is such a short time did so much for so many, could be so hated and reviled and mocked. But it's over now. Thank God it is over now!
IF YOU AND I HAD PERSONALLY WITNESSED THE EVENTS, WOULD THESE NOT EXPRESS OUR FEELINGS?
THEN the word came to us - HE IS ALIVE! The women have been to the tomb and found the stone rolled away, Jesus gone, and an angel saying that He is alive, just as He had told us.
THIS, my friend is why we set aside this day known to us as Easter to all celebrate God's great love and power in raising Jesus Christ from the dead, after He had offered Himself as the Passover Lamb for our Redemption. Now go and tell!
Blessings!
