THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.
Exodus 20:14
Mama use to say, "I have told you that a thousand times". How many times does God have to tell us about the danger of adultery? He even uses the term metaphorically regarding those who have gone after other gods. We were made for Him and Him alone, and He is jealous for us.
I remember Oprah telling about being so upset when she heard a preacher say that God is a jealous God. She totally misunderstood the concept, but she is an unbeliever anyway and lives with a man who is not her husband. Yet these are the kind of people that we allow to turn our hearts away for God.
Jesus made it perfectly clear that God made one man for one woman and that relationship if for life. The only exception if FORNICATION which is an umbrella for all sexual sins. Whether it is homosexuality, beastuality, premarital sex of extra marital sex, GOD FORBIDS IT, and those who do it will pay.
Eve, being deceived, and Adam, being determined not to lose what he had both walked away from God and hence metaphorically committed adultery. What was the result?
1. Confusion
2. Concealment
3. Conflict
The blame game started as Adam said, "The woman YOU gave me SHE..." Then Eve said, "The SERPENT HE..." But the truth was and is that they were both guilty. Whatever brings people to divorce, bring blame: "You always", "You never" are nothing but the blame game. One more thing for today -
A husband of a wife who refuses the partner what is rightfully his/her shares in the responsibility of infidelity. YOU ARE NOT AN INNOCENT PARTY! If you defraud, you are as guilty of sin as the unfaithful partner. You have pushed your spouse away by rejection, lack of affection, touchiness, or refusal. You will stand guilty before God. SELAH!
BLESSINGS!
