Morning Moments

The Requisite “Believe”

28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this?

The blind men in this story affirmed their confidence in WHO Jesus was and is. Many of us have done that very thing. We recognize that He is the Promised One, The Messiah, our Saviour and Lord. It is confessing Jesus as Lord that indicates we have believed, but do we also believe WHAT Jesus can do?

After their confession of Jesus as the Son of David, Heir to the throne, Promised Messiah, and their plea for mercy, Jesus asks a simple question of them: "Do you believe that I am ABLE to do this?"

It is right here that many of us begin to backtrack. I have personally just come through such a crisis of belief. I have affirmed that I believe Jesus has healed me of cancer and that I do not need more treatments. I speaking for me and for no one else when I affirm as the Hebrew child did in the flame:

Dan 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

What can be said more than this? One way or another GOD, not man will deliver us. It is with this strong confidence in WHO He is and WHAT He can do that makes the difference in the way we live. We do not live arrogantly, but CONFIDENTLY! Our confidence in Who He is and What He can do surpasses all other beliefs.

Remember the question Jesus asked prior to the resurrections of Lazarus? His sisters believed in WHO Jesus was, but had a problem with WHAT He could do, so He first affirmed the WHO - "I am THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE...", but then He proceeded with the question - "Believeth thou this?"

Don't stop with confessing WHO He is but continuing by confessing WHAT He can do.

BLESSINGS!
