Morning Moments

JUST THINKING!

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

What do you spend your time thinking about? Jesus said, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."

I recently heard a man tell a story of my dad and used himself as a witness to something very funny my dad had done many years ago. I knew the truth about it and the man telling the story as if it happened to him was no where around at the time.

Preachers sometimes do that, you know. Some tells stories as if it happened to them when in truth they were no where around. I don't like that and I don't think God does either. We mislead people when we speak of another's experience as if it were our own.

Recently a man said to me that his pastor had asked everyone in the congregation to stand who wanted to go to heaven. He reported that he was the only one who did not stand. The pastor, according to his account, approached him after the service and asked why he did not wish to go to heaven. He replied, "Oh, I do, but I thought you were trying to get up a trip today."

Now that might sound cute and get laughs, but it is an old story that has been told for ages. I find it quite discrediting that we do those kinds of things to get a laugh or a tear for that matter.

I guess Paul is saying, "Think truth and speak truth, but when you speak the truth, speak it in love."

Lord, help me to be a man of truth and integrity who never seeks to mislead others or misrepresent the truth.

BLESSINGS!
