Morning Moments

TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE

Philippians 4:8-9 (KJV)
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Learning to think truth is a discipline lacking today for so many. Truth starts with the very basics about life. It is not merely what we hear and sea, it is what we are and are not. How many times have you heard one spouse say of another, “You are not the person I married?” The truth is that it is the same person that has changed through time, tests, and temptations.

To think on things that are true, we must begin with ourselves. Let’s take a test:

1. I am by birth and by nature a fallen and sinful human being. True/False

2. I understand that the consequence of my very nature in sinful/selfish. True/False

3. I realize that it is not what I do that has alienated me from God, but what I am. True/False

4. I know this to be true because the Bible says it is true. True/False

5. Knowing this places the responsibility of my sinful/selfish life upon me. True/False

6. God says He loves me and sent Jesus to be the consequence of my sin/selfishness True/False

7. Jesus said that if I will give Him my life, He will in turn give me His. True/False

8. I have or will NOW give Jesus my life and receive His in return. True/False

9. Just as He at this moment gives me the faith to be saved, He gives faith to live by. True/False

10. From this moment on, I choose to follow Jesus and live by the faith He is giving me. True/False

The choice is yours. If the above statements are true you are saved and living for Jesus, but if you answered “false”, it is true that you do not have the life of God in you, regardless of what you feel, where you go to church, or what you do. THINK TRUE AND LIVE TRUE.

BLESSINGS!
