Luke 1:39-56 (KJV)
THE MAGNIFICAT
Mary and Elizabeth Rejoice Lk 1:39-56
The Journey “arose…Judah”
Casting pearl before swine is a real danger of the walk with the Lord. Mary was very discerning. She knew in her heart who would understand and would rejoice with her at what the Lord had done. We may accept the testimony of another, but to understand it takes illumination from God. Sometimes in our excitement about what God is teaching us, we share with those who do not have a clue. There are times when what God does IN me cannot be shared yet or at least with a very few. This journey probably took about three days, and it would not have been an easy one for a young pregnant woman, but God’s Path is rarely easy. It is His burden that is easy.
The Joy “leaped…Blessed”
God gives confirmations in some pretty strange ways. When Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, John leaped in her womb. Aged Elizabeth knew that the God of miracles had brought the mother of the Messiah to her home. There is a witness of the Holy Spirit within us of a genuine work done in someone else. There is entirely too much “one upper” in Christianity, particularly among modern charismatics.
Here were two women with two babies, filled with the Holy Spirit. WHAT? Babies filled with the Spirit? Yep! God is not bound by our limited theology. He is God and can do what He wishes. God’s desire is to fill us, which He does when we are born again – “confessing Jesus IS LORD” is to be filled with the Spirit, for “no man can confess Jesus as Lord expect by the Holy Spirit”.
There is always genuine joy when Jesus moves in us and through us. REJOICE!
The Jubilation “my soul…spirit…body”
What wonderful words of praise are found in what is know as the Magnificat. With the totality of her humanity, she worships her Deity. Again we can see how filled her heart was with Scripture as she quotes parts of 17 different passages.
As it was in the creation, so it was in the Incarnation; the whole spirit, soul, and body participates in the presence and work of God. Hence her mind, will, and emotions; her spiritual awareness, intuition, and communion; her body, were all a part of her worship. She was FULL of the Holy Spirit and was praising God for the GIFT of His Son with all her being.
A good example for us!
BLESSINGS!
