Morning Moments

Ps 119:145

Anyone who claims never to be in destress is definitely in denial!

KOPH is the nineteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and the sub-title of the nineteenth section of Psalm 119.

It is a plea for faithfulness in time of distress. "Why are you disquieted O my soul; HOPE thou in God!"

Do the psalmist cries out to the LORD - with all his heart. That is always the key to finding God, for He says, "Seek Me and you shall find Me when you seach for me with all your heart." That is why he has said that the double minded will not find Him.

This is not some deal the psalmist is trying to strike with God, but a plea and a promise. He affirms his obedience to the statutes of God.

Ps 119:146

Honestly, there are those times of distress when we wonder if God is near, BUT in our heart of hearts we KNOW that He will NEVER leave us nor forsake us. He abides faithful. Always has been, is now, and ever shall be.

So in response to the witness of the record, the testimonies of saints, and the commitment of heart, He will do what He says He will do and deliver from despair and distress.

Ps 119:147

I will rise before the sun and cry unto you, LORD, confidently, for Your Word is my hope and You are my help.

It is difficult for some to rise before day, but I like to think of it this way - When I was a child I would get up really early on Christmas morning to glimpse at the gifts under the tree and see if the coffee and cookie were gone. If so, I would begin waking everyone else.

It is worth rising before day to see the gift of a new day the Lord has prepared for me. It is quiet, and gives me lots of time to be with Him - alone, and maybe even with a cup of coffee.

Ps 119:148

What a powerful statement this is - "Father, when I cannot sleep, I don't need a pill; I need simply to meditate on Your Word until I sleep again."

The Bible is a sure cure for insomnia. The Devil doesn't want you reading and reflecting on it, so if you commit to doing it in those times of insomnia, the devil will leave you alone and let you sleep:)

Ps 119:149

Just as I, as a sheep, know the voice of my Shepherd, so my Shepherd knows my voice and hears me when I cry and call.

The life God gives to us makes us alive and alert to His Word and that life is according to HIS judicial decree that I am HIS, forgiven, loved, accepted, and filled with God's Spirt. Thank You LORD!

It is not true merely because I feel it, but because He SAYS IT.

Ps 119:150

In times of distress, those who are far from the Word seem so near to me. The world, the flesh, and the devil seek me to take matters into my own hands, but there is a problem -

I'm in Your Hands, dear LORD, and my life is hid in the Father, with His Son. They may seem close, but they CAN NOT conquer me for I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me and gave Himself for me.

Ps 119:151

When they are close, Lord, You are even closer. It is the Word of God which is the Sword of the Spirit, and it is THE SWORD of the SPIRIT that puts armies to flight. Your Word is true and what You say is always right.

Teach me simply to trust You by drawing near to You, resisting the enemy and watching Him flee because of You.

Ps 119:152

What I am going through is nothing new to You or to me. My experience, Lord, is consistent with the record of witness of all the saints. Your governing principles work - they always have and always will.

OF THIS I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE!
