Morning Moments

Maybe you have not noticed that each of the sub-sections of Psalm 119 consists of 8 verses, making a total of 176 verses. John Wesley's mother required all of her 18 children to have memorized this entire Psalm by the age of six. That should be a lesson to us to get the Word of God into the hearts of our children.

In an effort to help readers better understand my comments in context, I will be giving the verse and comments on each verse for reflection and meditation. Don't be concerned with grammatical errors or with my writing in the first person, then the third person, etc. Just get my heart message as God gives it to me and I share it with you.

CHETH

Ps 119:57

Once again we see the psalmist in pain with such a longing for God. We pursue Him until He catches us. It is often said of a young man in the pursuit of one who has his affections. "I chased her till she caught me." He pulls, we pursue. He draws us by His grace and we respond by running after Him.

Ps 119:58

You bade me come and I came. You said "come and see" and I did and have seen who I now am because of You. You bestowed upon me more than I could ever imagine, but Your bestowal is consistent with Your promise. You always keep your word.

Ps 119:59

You, O Lord, kept me from falling, and when I did fall, I realized that my ways are woeful and Your ways are wonderful. It is as a man with a wonderful wife; he may see many others but none so fair as she. Help us, oh Lord to remain faithful to you in love and living. "Teach us to number our days (realize how short they are), that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom (learning how to live the life we have received)".

Ps 119:60

Without hesitation or reservation, Oh Lord, teach us that your commands are for our good and Your glory. You have prohibited nothing that is good for us and provided a way of escape from anything and everything that would hurt us.

Ps 119:61

Because I hid Your word in my heart, O Lord, even when circumstances were difficult and the night was dark, I remember Your instructions. Your Word keeps me safe and sound in the midst of violence and vileness. Help me to NEVER forget what You have said.

Ps 119:62

As I wake in the night, I am reminded of Your precious Word. It makes sleepless nights special nights. When I wake, I will praise You. I will praise You until you give Your beloved sleep once more. What a way to enjoy insomnia!

Ps 119:63

My company of friends is very selective. I will guard my heart very carefully and will find sweet fellowship and offer my help to all who are in this company and offer their help and support to me. Thank You for making me a part of the greatest family on earth on the way to heaven.
