Morning Moments

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

I would like for you to think with me today about this word translated “wait”.

There is a root meaning which is to “twist”. Would you use twine for mountain climbing? Of course not! Why not? Because twine would never have the strength to hold a body, so one would use rope. That rope consists of “twisted twine”.

Take a piece of twine, stretch it and it will soon snap, but add another piece and the pressure endurance of the twine increases twofold. Double that. Triple that. Quadruple that. Very soon you will find it practically impossible to break what has now become a rope.

THAT is what waiting does! Waiting requires patience and patience only come through experience, but every time tribulation comes, our loving father adds a hemp (a tough fiber made from the stems of an Asian plant. Use: canvas, rope, paper, cloth), until we discover that it is not our strength but His that holds up and helps us.

We are “twisted” together with him, and our best desires and the best wishes of others will not hold us in conflict nor crisis. Our “wait” is upon the Lord – and so is our weight. “Wait, my soul upon the LORD”! Wait, I say upon the Lord.

BLESSINGS!
