Morning Moments

"God is good!" It is an expression frequently used by Christians. The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 5:13 (KJV)
13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord;

For the next few days I would like to examine the Goodness of God, and begin by EXPLANATION.

Goodnss is that state qualit of being which is charistized by complete unselfishness and an unfailing desire for the best for others. It is impossible for man to be so in and of himself, for his very nature is contrary to it. By nature we want better for ourselves than we want for others. Our nature in Adam is extremely selfish and can be nothing more. Even when we want the best for others, it is to benefit ourselves. BUT - that is NOT the nature of God.

It is our new nature in Christ that enables us to sincerely and lovingly want the best for other, but even that is because GOD is good. I may want the best for my companion, my children, my church, my community, my country, and even my cosmos, but even as a believer, I am faced with two problems:

1. The selfishness of my own fallen nature.
2. My inability to know exactly what is best for them.

But GOD, has no such problems, for He is NOT limited by either, hence God IS Good - all the time and all the way, so what I want "in Christ" for others is what God wants and what HE alone can offer - GOODNESS! Without strings, without selfishness, and without sorrow.
