17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Once again Timothy is urged to “command” the rich in this world not to be haughty or arrogant or “lofty in mind”. The Scripture tells us not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought and warns us not to deceive ourselves by so thinking.
If any generation has ever seen the uncertainty of riches it should be ours. Many who have had millions have lost millions. Riches are uncertain so DON’T trust your pride and don’t trust your possessions. Rather, enjoy what you have, share what you have and thank God for having what you have while you have it. So, use what use have to the glory of God by always being ready to help those in need.
By so doing your life foundation will be solid, sure, and safe. As you do unto others according your ability and their need, you are building that foundation, which is Jesus Christ, for no foundation can be laid than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Do earn to His glory, save to His glory, Invest to His glory, give to His glory and SHARE to His glory, not to build monuments and mansions, but to build men for Jesus.
Finally, Timothy, adhere to sound doctrine and avoid the silliness, senselessness, and so-called science which has caused many to swerve from the body of truth (sound doctrine) once for all delivered unto the saints. Stick to the Word of God; speak it, share it, store it, show it, stand for it, and STAY with it. So Be It.
May the grace of God be with you – may that grace which is a gift of God that none deserves, which is given to us out of the generosity of God’s loving heart without hope or desire for remuneration, remain with you.
THE END OF FIRST TIMOTHY.
BLESSINGS!
