Because of Queen Esther’s courage, conviction, and committment, a whole nation was saved. Seeing her God-given opportunity, she seized it! Her life made a difference. Read Esther and watch for God at work in your life. Perhaps he has prepared you to act in “such a time as this” (4:14). In chapter 8, we discover that this salvation of a nation was an act of a Sovereign God by placing someone He could trust in a position of influence. GOD BRING US AN ESTHER AND A MORDECAI TODAY!
8:1 - The Revelation - It was one of relationship. Because Ester's acceptance by and admiration of the king. Uncle Mordecai could now openly affirm their relationship. It is the death of the flesh that frees us to confess our faith in Jesus Christ with courage and confidence. We are related - accepted of Him and approved by Him. It is based upon revelation and regeneration.
1:2 - The Ring - the ring is a symbol of royalty. It was round - representing the eternal life that is ours because of this relationship. But it is also a symbol of authority - because He reigns in us, we reign also with Him. Not only do we have new life, but we have also ascended to a new level. Our citizenship was carnal, fleshly, but now it is heavenly. Just as the prodigal's father placed a ring upon his finger as a sign of acceptance, so God has given to us that unending circle of love and acceptance through Christ. He has eternally accepted us.
1:3 - The Request - This was no casual petition. She spoke to the king and fell at his feet, and besought him with tears. Oh dear God, the agony of a soul poured out on behalf of a nation moved the heart of a king. Do it again, Lord. Do it again. She knew the damage that Haman the Henchman had done with his deception and diabolical scheme. She further knew that the damage could not be undone without the approval of the king. Regardless of what the Holy Spirit might want to do in and through us, He is restricted to our choice - our cooperation. If we will, then He will. As long as it is your choice or mine for the flesh to govern and control our lives, the Holy Spirit is quenched and grived and restricted and hindered.
We shall continue...
