Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I never cease to be astounded at light on the TRUTH God gives. There are some things that have been troubling me lately, so I want to share with you on this special day what I have discovered.

1. What made the Wise Men wise? I mean how did they know that a child was born hundreds of miles away?

2. How did they know He was a King?

3. How did they know He would be King of the Jews?

4. What do our GIVING gifts have to do with the Birth of Jesus?

5. Why is Christmas celebrated on December 25th when we know for sure that Jesus was not born on that date?

Let me try to answer these questions with the help of great and godly men of the past and men like Frederick A. Larson of the present.

Sir Isaac Newton is quoted as follows: "He that would understand a book written in a strage language must first learn the language.... Such a language was that wherein the Prophets wrote, and the want of sufficient skill in that language is the main reason why they are so little understood."

Newton believed that great and undiscovered knowledge existed in the original Hebrew versions of the Old Testament. Newton wrote three times as much theology papers as he did science, but is generally remembered only for his science.

So, back to the wisemen. Apparently these men studied the stars and the Scripture and found the Truth of God written in both as the Bible says regarding the heavens declaring the glory of God. It is more than just looking at the heavens and believing.

These wisemen were from Babylon, where Daniel must have taught a "school" of astronomers. These were Jews of Babylon who knew that the Scripture taught 1) "a child" would be born. 2) They also knew that this Child would be their Messiah. 3)They knew from Scripture that Messiah was the King of the Jews.

Time and space is limited here, so later I will pass along some resouces. For now, to continue to answer the questions I have asked myself (the first 3 I already answered), 4) They brought gifts to the CHILD (not the baby), and 5) They arrived on December 25th.

PRAYER: Father, help us to understand that our ignorance of Sacred Truth is due to our willing ignorance and the spirit of darkness. We are children of Light, teach us to seek as they sought.
