Luke 2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
Note three important things about these verses:
1. The Travel – This is the GO in Gospel. The Word of God is not to mesmerize us, but to move us. Remember the Word is a “lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” That indicates movement. The Word of Jesus to the disciples was that they were to “tarry UNTIL….” When the Spirit comes in, one has the power to go witness.
2. The Treasure – They found Jesus! God said, “You shall find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I have seen the bumper stickers that read, “I found Him.” Well, He was not the one who was lost. And He always knows where we are, so we look for Him because we are LED to LOOK for Him. Jesus affirmed this by “No man can come unto me except the Spirit draws him.” Finding a Treasure is like having a baby – it takes time.
3. The Testimony – What these shepherds had seen changed their lives completely. Oh they might have remained shepherds but they were not the same shepherd after this. By the way, one is never the same after “finding” Jesus. These guys left the scene to tell everybody they saw WHAT they had seen. What’s our problem?
PRAYER: Father, having eyes to see, I pray that we might indeed see what you have done, are doing, and are willing to do – for us, in us, and through us.
