Morning Moments

We continue with our focus on Genesis 2:23 - "...This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be call woman, because she was taken out of man."

Did you ever wonder why two people can be head over heals in love, get married and later almost hate each other's guts? Well, I'm not a psychologist; I am a preacher/teacher, but I figure they never "bonded" and to bond means that you become ONE. Now let's examine that.

It is said that the early Church was "with one spirit", not one soul. That is very important, for the soul is that part of you which consists of mind, emotions, and will. It is the "self conscious" part of you. The spirit, however is the "God conscious" part of you. So, to be one in spirit means that you are bonded with God and with one another, whether or not you think alike, feel alike or make the same decisions. Even as a Christian, you never cease to be YOU, but as a couple, you are YOU in the plural, not singular:)

There is a really cool side to this. Man is the pursuer and woman is the pursued. Man is the initiator. That is why he is referred to as the head of the wife. HE is to be the spiritual leader (though he may not be as spiritual as she). HE is to be the administrator of discipline (though she disciplines too). HE is to be the primary provided (though she may provide also). HE is also to be the example of a "forgiver" which may be seen in Adam's willingness to accept Eve after she had been deceived (just a thought).

Now let's pull this together in this manner: As is Christ, so is man with Christ in him, so if Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for her, then the Christian man is to do the same. Jesus is our Leader, our Protector, and our Provider, just as the husband is to be for the wife. Remember blood cleanses and love covers. It is the blood of Jesus Christ alone that CLEANSES from ALL sin (not covers); but it is the Love of Jesus Christ in us that COVERS what the blood CLEANSES. By the way, why would you wish to keep uncovering what His love in you has covered? With a brief illustration I will close for today -

We have two Maltese dogs and they are adorable. One of them thinks the top of the pillow on the sofa is his and that is where he perches. Over time, it gets a little dirty, so we had it cleaned, then placed a covering over it. Now it stays clean and we just wash the covering and COVER it back up. AIN'T God good to do that!

PRAYER: Our dear loving Lord, we thank you for the simple lessons in life that teach us of deep spiritual truths. Help us to learn well as we follow the path and principles you have laid out for us. We are yours; we make to claim to our lives, but offer them to you for you to live through.
