Morning Moments

In our consideration of Abraham's Altar of Grace: A Place of Separation, we see that there are three significant acts that every believe must come to before he/she can move to the Altar of Growth.

1. The act of submission: Jesus said, "to whom you yield yourself servant to obey, his servant you are to whom you obey." That is our call to total surrender. The servant is not above his Lord, so he must always maintain a spirit of submission. As we have said before, this is not the act of "making Jesus Lord," but yielding to His Lordship. He IS Lord! Andrew Murray's book entitled "Absolute Surrender" is a must for every child of God.

2. The act of sacrifice: A life for a Life is God's way. My life for His! Suppose you were on a trip in an old clunker and it stopped running. There you are on the side of the highway with a piece of junk that just won't run. Then I pull up beside you in a new Mercedes and asked if you need help. Admitting your vehicle is hopeless, I ask if you would like to trade cars. You might think I am crazy but I am sincerely offering you my new mercedes along with the title. Would you do it? Would you give me the title to your old car for the title to mine? You would be crazy not to. The sacrifice would be on my part not yours. You merely enjoy the benefits of my sacrifice. Every offering placed on the altar depicted HIS supreme Sacrifice.

3. The act of supplication. God said, "Call unto me and I WILL answer and show you great and mighty things." Do you suppose Abraham really had a clue of the great and mighty things God showed him? Not a chance! But He sought the Lord because the Lord had "bought" him. It is that way with us. We get when we ask in faith. We find when we seek in faith. The way is open to us when we knock in faith. This is God's way.

Have you been to the altar today? Have you worshipped at this altar of grace? Do you understand that the altar is not just some pretty piece of furniture, but it is where you DIE and then by the eternal Spirit, you are raised from the dead to newness of life.

PRAYER: What an awesome God you are, Lord. "Nothing in my hand I bring; only to the cross I cling" that I might know the fellowship of your suffering and the power outflowing from your resurrection. You are alive and living in me. Thank you!
