When they were growing up, I would say, "Be a blessing and not a burden." Each had a little book entitled Bee Happy. It taught them that they could never be happy without being obedient, and for the most part they were, with minimal exceptions. They all worked from the age of fourteen and know the value of a dollar. More importantly they all confess their faith in Christ.
All are married now with children of their own, and I must say I am impressed with their parenting. Our grandsons range from "redneck" to "genius", and all are six and under:) My point is that there is harmony in diversity and for that I am grateful. It should be that way in the body of Christ.
We are to "honor one another and esteem the other better than ourself" in Christ's body, recognizing that the differences make life delightful. It should be a blessing when Christians gather, without grumbling and complaining and fault finding.
We must allow each other time for growth and development. We must understand that we are not at the same level nor of the same understanding, but WE ARE ONE BODY in Christ, so let's each do our part in encouraging one another "daily as the Day approaches". Blessings!
PRAYER: Lord, as we get closer to the time of "going home", help us each to be a blessing and not a burden to YOUR family. Teach us to be patient and kind; understanding and loving, even when we have to "reprove, rebuke, and exhort". Teach us to always do it with LONGSUFFERING as well as doctrine.
