Morning Moments

DAY and NIGHT

There are so many for whom we should be faithfully praying!  Sometimes I get a little frustrated with "Prayer Requests" for Aunt Susie who has lived for 90 years and is not feeling well, or Uncle John who has the flue, or a thousand other frivolous such requests heard in the average "prayer meeting".

I guess the reason these thing bother me so is that I see where 50 rockets a day are launched at parts of Israel and rarely, if ever reported, the women and young girls in Syria are being raped and murdered and the men butchered, Egypt is in perhaps the most critical battle for its survival, Putin in Russia and Obama in the United States seem to be renewing the "Cold War", and on and on;  NOT to mention the situation in Afghanistan, Iran, Mexico and the potential economic collapse in Europe.

Every day we live and breathe souls are stepping into eternity without the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Often those who are willing to go can't go because it takes funds to go and others who could help prefer to drive expensive cars, live in better houses, or a thousand other things.  I'm not being critical, I'm just burdened about our priorities and our prayer lives.

Personally, I have been through cancer twice and am cancer free today and am thankful for it, BUT I NEVER prayed to be healed!  My only prayer was that Christ be magnified in my body whether by life or by death.  Others prayed, for sure, and I'm thankful, for Paul wrote that his "deliverance would come from the supplication of the saints and the supply of the Spirit."  He was ready to go but God delivered him because it was needful for them.  In other words, his deliverance was for the glory of God and for the good of the Body of Christ, not merely for the good of the body of Paul.

One of the reasons I think God has given us such exposure to world events is so that we might more effectively and intelligently pray for the lost to be saved as well as our brothers and sisters around the world who are facing such persecution and crisis.

I'm only saying that we need to take a good look at our praying!  What can we learn from the prayers of the saints in the Scripture?  Our world is RIPE for the Gospel once again!  Everything men have put their trust in is failing them - financial institutions, stock markets, governments, etc.  The fields are WHITE unto harvest if only we will lift up our eyes.

I'm certainly not saying that there are legitimate reasons to prayer for one another's physical condition, but everybody gets the sniffles, everybody gets tired, everybody gets an upset stomach from time to time.  These are conditions of being human.  BUT everybody is not facing the perils that so many around the world are facing today and we who are not need to PRAY and GIVE all we can while we can to do all we can to help relieve all we can.

May God help us to be vigilant and faithful in praying for those who have REAL trouble!  As much as I may love Granny, who is 86, 92 or whatever and wish to see her live to be 100, she is gonna check out!  AND she is probably gonna go easy and be carried away on angel's wings, while others who have just begun to live for Jesus are being slaughtered for their faith.  Prayer for Granny, but for Jesus' sake, TRAVAIL for the others!

BLESSINGS!
