HIS NAME'S SAKE
Today let's focus on Isa 66:5 Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
There is an interesting twist to the use of our phrase "for my names sake" in this passage. There were those in Israel who claimed to know the Lord, but who in reality "rejected" or "cast out" "for his name's sake" God's true people. These were the "temple" worshippers rather than the God worshippers. These are they who have a "form of godliness, but who deny the power thereof."
I am so sorry to say that it was a day much like our own when those who truly believe the Bible and trust God from the heart are often looked upon as being "less enlightened" by others in Christendom who are more "open" in their thinking. The truth is that God esteems His Word above His Name, temple, and all else. Heaven and earth will pass away, but NOT His Word!
It is a sad thing when those who claim to know Him seek to fashion Him after their own image and not allow Him to fashion them after His image. This was the problem! They preferred form to faith, liturgy to liberty, religion to righteous, and works to true worship. The head was more important than the heart. They were "wise in their own eyes." Their pride blinded them to the simple truth of supernatural trust. Pity!
Because of this, God promised that harsh judgment would come. Those who looked down their prideful noses at the broken and contrite people of God would be shamed by being taken captive by the Babylonians. God said that they enjoyed disgusting practices by going through the motions, all the while being critical of those who truly had a heart for God.
Dear friend, God is not nearly as concerned with what is in your head as He is with what is in your HEART.
BLESSINGS!
