Morning Moments

NOT KNOWING!

Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

Hosea 4:6
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

WHAT AN ENDICTMENT! God is not impressed with our knowledge of science, medicine, business, current events or even history, but God is concerned about our knowledge of HIM. One can read the Scriptures, hear them preached and taught, even see the power of God displayed and yet NOT K N O W!

This lack of knowledge of THE HOLY ONE is costing us more than we can afford to pay. We can develop and "what will be will be" attitude, twiddle our thumbs and talk all we want about living in the last days and the soon coming of Jesus, BUT what does the average Christian today really know about the Scripture and the Power of God?

Let me illustrate: In both cases above, the people had been taught the law of God - touch not, taste not, etc... They knew the rules but broke them because they failed to get to know the RULER. How many students have memorized the answers for a test only to forget them after the test? BUT when you love and respect your teacher to such an extent that you KNOW you are hurting him or her by not being prepared, THAT is motivation. It is the same with parents. If a child understands the love and sacrifice of that parent and KNOWS that the parent's "rules" are only for the good of the child, it shows that the child values the "ruler" above the rules and that the issue is not "law" but "love".

God told Israel and Jesus told us that everything Father commands (law) is based upon our love for Him and our love for one another. Whom I love, I protect and seek to provide what I can for. Love is not about me, but about Him and others.

My mom use to say to me, "Son, remember who your dad is." I misunderstood that for many years, until I got to KNOW my dad - not as a dad, but as a man. I knew that as my dad he loved me, provided for me, did lots of things for me, sacrificed for me, etc, but then I knew my dad as a MAN - a man of character, of compassion, of deep conviction. It took time with him - alone, to know his heart. Family times were good but personal time was when I learned about him and who and what he really was.

Maybe you didn't have a dad like that, and maybe you have a little difficulty getting close to Father God. Maybe His Word to you is just the Bible and maybe the Bible to you is just a book - historical, prophetical, poetical, but not personal. And just maybe, to you, the God you say you "know", you don't really KNOW privately and personally.

Truth is that you may be ignorant of lots of things - we all are - BUT you do not have to be without "KNOWLEDGE" of HIM and the Word of His Power and the Power of His Word.

NOT KNOWING about many things is not bad, but NOT KNOWING Him is the greatest tragedy of life.

BLESSINGS!
