JAMES Devotional Outline and Notes (cont)

* PERSONAL NOTE TO READERS - Sometimes I get in a hurry and do not proof as I should, have doctor appointments, domestic issuses (not with wife but with pet embergiences, etc), so please do not judge these notes too harshly. At the proper time they will be revised, proofed, and published, but you are gettring them each morning straight from my heart and sometimes without coffee.)

I. Wisdom's Wealth 1:1-27
II. Worthwhile Works 2:1-27

A. No Regard for Persons 2:1
B. No Regard for Prosperity, Possessions, or Position 2:3
C. No Regard for Providence 2:4-7

1. Don't be Impartial 2:1-4
2. Don't be Impertinent 2:8-12

Works of faith are not only NOT impartial, but they are not impertinent or disrespectful of the law which binds Christians to the Lord and to one another. It is a law of liberty and love which fulfills the holds us together. Disrespect for this law is a violation of it which is sin, and brings with it reproductions. It is the law that judges us and the Lord who is enforcer of that law.

a. The Virtue

2:8. If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

This "law" of love and liberty is such an amazing one. The Scripture describes it as the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ (Rom 8:2), the law of Christ (Gal 6:2), perfect law of liberty (Jas 1:25), and the law that gives freedom (Jas 2:12). The word "royal" means belonging to a king but we know this as The King's Law. To fulfill it is to complete it or to keep or obey it. It is consistent with "doing the word" as opposed to merely "hearing the word".

b. The Violators

9. But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Faith sets us free from sin, not to sin, and to love, not to lust. So when we lust (crave uncontrollably motivated by our sinful nature), we place ourselves back into the bondage of sin which kills (brings forth death) fellowship with the Father and His Son. Hence, our liberty is lost and our love become lust. I am not saying the fellowship cannot be restored, it can, but only by confession (agreement with God about my sin) and repentance (change). Anybody can say "I'm sorry" but one is not "sorry" for sin he/she will not leave,

How many times being hit by a car would it take a child to learn it is dangerous to play in the street where there is traffic? DUH! Superficial "christianity" has led us to believe we can do what we wish, then tromp our way to the cross about the same old stuff over and over and over. READ YOUR BIBLE and don't listen to any preacher that minimizes the need for leaving your sins and loving your God.

I might add the word VICTIMS to the list, just because must of today's Christianity has many victims from preaching that has not been true to God's law of liberty which is perfect and which is royal and kingly and not trashy and common as some paperback love story.

BLESSINGS!
