Philippians Devotional Outline (cont)
Conclusion
Paul's conclusion in these three verses says it all about this incredible experience that is ours in Christ:
1. It Transforms the Sinner into a Saint:
4:21. Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.
In the first place, the word "salute" means more than merely saying "hello". It means to cherish or embrace. We may speak to everyone, saint or sinner, but we are to cherish and embrace one another as true believers in Jesus Christ.
The word every is important because none are to be excluded. The poor and prosperous alike are equal in this family. The educated and uneducated are equally loved by our Father. We are never to show preference, never to be partial, for God is no respecter of persons.
Saints! Got it? That is what we are in Christ and it would be a good idea for us to respect each other as saints - as well as ourselves. God says we are and that is all that matters to me. "Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect; It is God who justifies (declares us righteous) us." We MUST learn to live up to our high, holy, and heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.
2. It Transcends the Governmental Boundaries into Godly Brethren:
4:22. All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar’s household.
There are no boundaries too high for God; no governments too restricted; no powers too strong to keep the gospel out. Furthermore, Paul never faced Rome with fear, but with joy at the glorious opportunity of presenting the Good News about Jesus to the "powers that be".
Apparently, even those of Caesar's own household came to believe in Jesus. When Paul left a place most remembered Paul but many KNEW JESUS! He saw every obstacle as an opportunity, every critic as a challenge, and every human as a heavenly target.
3. It Treasures the Provider of it ALL:
4:23. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
It is ALL by GRACE - even faith comes by grace. Grace is greater than all our sins. Grace - that which God has free given out of a heart of love to those who do not merit or deserve or earn it in any way. HALLELUJAH! AMEN!
BLESSINGS!
