Deceived by Drugs
[Gal 5:20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
[Rev 9:21] Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
[Rev 18:23] And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
The family of words from which we get our English word pharmacy is derived from the Greek word pharmakeuō which means “to mix potions or poison.” The term also refers to the practice of magic. Thus pharmakeia (also spelled pharmakia) refers to the practice of the arts associated with magic, which in the time of the New Testament involved the use of potions or drugs. In Galatians 5:20 this practice is identified as a work of the flesh. In Revelation 9:21 it is listed among the sins which humanity refuses to repent of—even after the plague of the sixth trumpet. In Revelation 18:23 it refers to the magical arts practiced by the great whore Babylon in her seduction of all the nations of the earth.

One of the most terrifying things about this “X-Generation” is its use and abuse of drugs of all kinds both legal and illegal, which increases lying, cheating, stealing, suicide, and murder. It begins with the inability to accept oneself as God designed. It may be prompted by a desire to be accepted, which is really a lack of the ability to stand alone if necessary. It may be prompted by being overwhelmed with stress, which is actually a lack of ability to manage. One must learn to say “no” to certain things that may be good in order to say “yes” to things that really matter. If you do not manage your life, someone else will.
Some people think they must have to have a drink to relax, others take recreation drugs, but we need neither. Society has dictated to us that we need these things and it is not true. These are merely cheap substitutes for the “rest” that can be found in Christ Jesus and not merely attending a church. Television is filled with commercials of new “drugs” that you need to ask your doctor about. We don’t need more drugs, we need less. I know there is a time and place for them but we can’t live without meds anymore. Kids swap them at school, mix them, and sell them all because they are so easy to find in the cabinet at home.
We do not need to minimize this danger! I’m afraid many of us are contributing to it.
BLESSINGS!
