[25:5] Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
When I was a boy my dad use to take me hunting with him. I was not suited for it though because I could not stay still for very long. I probably suffered from all those things they call disorders these days, but the truth is I could never remain still; I always had to be doing something.
Many of us struggle with that spiritually. Oh, we can sit still in the bushes waiting for birds or still in a deer stand, but when it comes to waiting on God, that's another thing altogether. And yet, it is the most important.
Let's face it, sometimes we just think God is too busy with other things or too slow or just plain doesn't seem to care about us. But none of that is true. It is that He wants what is best for us and what is best for us takes more time than we are willing to wait.
That is why dreams die, marriages fail, and hopes are shattered. It is not because God does not want good things for us, but because we are not willing to wair for them.
I enjoy gourmet food. I like to prepare it too, but it takes a whole lot longer to prepare it than it does to eat it. Most of us have settled for microwave dinners or fast food restaurants because we don't have the time or don't want to take the time and effort to prepare.
Waiting is not for whimps! Waiting is for warriors. The race is not to the swift, neither is the battle to the strong. These are lessons of the ancients that our modern culture refuses to learn because we do not have the time - or so we think.
Today, slow down! Learn the lesson of patient endurance. The text says, "...on Thee do I wait all the day." It doesn't mean we do nothing in the meantime, but we learn the art of resting in the race so that we do not run the race in vain.
BLESSINGS!
