Morning Moments

2 John 1:4 (ASV)
4 I rejoice greatly that I have found certain of thy children walking in truth, even as we received commandment from the Father.

What father isn't upset when, knowing what's best for his child, finds that child has little regard for His commands? Just so, it upsets our Heavenly Father when, as true believers we do not SEEK the Truth, STUDY the Truth, and SHARE the TRUTH of the Word of God. The Father has commanded and it is our responsibility to allow the Holy Spirit within us to enhance our desire to obey and to enable us to do it.

God's truth is settled and it does not change. For us to simply tell the truth about what we know and have see is often relevant. For example, if the weathman says that rain is expected today, he is telling the truth based on his knowledge and understanding, but what if it doesn't rain, does that make his forecast not the truth? We MUST understand this: God TRUTH is forever settled in Heaven and revealed in the Bible because as God He knows the beginning from the ending. He is omniscient, a characteristic of deity alone, that enable Him to always know as present, what is past and future. Hence His Word is always TRUTH.

Our text says that John has no greater joy than to know that his children walk in TRUTH - the TRUTH of God's Word where God has commanded that we do so.

There is always a struggle with man obeying the command of God to walk in His TRUTH because our natural tendancy is to lean to our own understanding. We are commanded not to do that, but to trust the Lord with all our heart - our thinking and feelings. We are not able to see into the future as if it were the present, but God is, and He knows the truth and speaks the truth that is perfect and is to be used to change our hearts - the way we think and feel.
