Morning Moments

I SHAL NOT BE MOVED

Psalm 15:1-5 (KJV)
1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

This Psalm may seem a little confusing to some. Spurgeon wrote: Spiritually we have here a description of the man who is a child at home in the Church of God on earth, and who will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever above. He is primarily Jesus, the perfect man, and in him all who through grace are conformed to his image. The Treasury of David.

The context makes it clear that the issue God's dwelling place and ours as true believers. The Ark of the Covenant and God's promise to dwelll there between the Cherubim is the issue and Jerusalem was the place for it to dwell. Not just anyone could carry the Ark and it was forbidden to touch it, so it posed some serious problems with restoring it to its rightful place.

Now if the Ark represents the presence of God, what is the rightful place for God's Presence today? This tabernacle of flesh. This temple. This body that God now lives in through our personal faith in Jesus Christ.

In the first place, we must make sure God dwells in us. John Wesley's father said to him, "Son, it's the inner witness. That's how you know." The Spirit bears witness to our spirits that we ARE the children of God. Once that is settle we understand the presence of God is within us as it was within the tabnercle and temple of old.

The rest of the verse helps us to understand the result or the affects of His presence within us. It is His work within us that not only enables, but empowers us to walk uprightly, speak truthfully, control our tongue, love our neighbor, honor one another and not take advantage of each other. "He works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure."

I will abide and dwell in Him who abides and dwells in me.

BLESSINGS!
